On June 26, 2019, the Legal Action Center and the Katal Center for Health, Equity, and Justice co-hosted a webinar on New York’s application to waive the federal Medicaid “Inmate” Exclusion provision, which if approved, would make New York the first state in the country to use Medicaid “inside the walls,” helping to improve both health and criminal justice outcomes. Presenters discussed how health and justice advocates nationwide can collectively weigh in to “turn on care” in their states. On April 3, 2019, the Legal Action Center’s “No Health = No Justice” Campaign convened over 130 advocates, directly impacted people, health care and reentry service providers, policy-makers,  and academics to discuss “Dismantling Systemic Inequity in Criminal Justice and Health” at Columbia University in New York City.
